The blood of Jesus

There is Power in the Blood that was shed on Calvary and below are the seven places that Jesus bled and what they mean.

The Blood Speaks

Genesis 4:8 Now Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the field.” While they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him. 9 Then the LORD said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?” I don’t know,” he replied. “Am I my brother’s keeper?” 10 The LORD said, “What have you done? Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground. 11 Now you are under a curse and driven from the ground, which opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand. 12 When you work the ground, it will no longer yield its crops for you. You will be a restless wanderer on the earth.”

Hebrews 12:22 But you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, 23 to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the Judge of all, to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, 24 to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.

Locations of where the Blood was shed and what it means

  1. 1. Gethsemane – Restoration of Will

Matthew 26:42 He went away a second time and prayed, “My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done

This was the first place that Jesus shed His Blood. Referencing back to Genesis: when Adam and Eve fell into sin and disobeyed God they lost their will and place in Eden. Thus, Jesus had to start the restoration from the garden and restored our Will.

  2. 2. The Whipping Post

Isaiah 53:5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.

This is the second place Jesus bled, the first part of the verse deals with our sin (transgressions and rules that we break) and iniquities that is what we have inherited not only from our families but from Adam, because it is through one man’s sin that the whole race of men became accursed.

  3. 3. Healing

The third place Jesus bled was through the beatings he got on the pole. The 39 stripes are a representative of 39 illnesses that are known in the world. It is also known that it was Jewish custom and belief that should a man be whipped more than 40 stripes he would die thus Jesus was whipped 39 stripes and by that we claim healing.

  4. 4. Crowns and Thistles

17 To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’

“Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat food from it all the days of your life. 18 It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field. 19 By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return”.

The fourth place Jesus bled was on the Head; when they put the crown of thistles and thorns. This restored the produce of your work. When Adam was cursed in the garden, he was told he would struggle to keep what he worked for. By this crown Jesus’ blood restored the produce of your work physically and spiritually it would no longer be a struggle.

  5. 5. Hands

As Jesus was nailed on the cross the nails that went into two of his hands. This was the restoration of the work of your hands. In the Old Testament a relationship with God was based on works – what they did go gain right standing with God. With the nails on his hand, the bleeding of hands established the work of our hands nailing the old order of works to introduce the walk (spirit walk) in a relationship with God.

Psalm 90:17 May the favour of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us— yes, establish the work of our hands.

  6. 6. Feet

Jesus feet were nailed and this restored dominion on the earth. The feet are used to retain balance and control. In Genesis 1:27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. 28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

Matthew 28:16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshipped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “ All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me“. Through your relationship with Jesus through the Holy Spirit He restores and reveals your dominion back into God’s presence and having authority in earth.

  7. 7. Side : Access Granted

Mark 15:38 The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.

As the scripture says John 19:33 But when they came to Jesus and found that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. 34 Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water. 35 The man who saw it has given testimony, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, and he testifies so that you also may believe. 36 These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled: “”Not one of his bones will be broken,” 37 and, as another scripture says, “They will look on the one they have pierced.”

Proverbs 34:19 The righteous person may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all; 20 he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken.

When God made Adam’s wife Eve, he slit the side and removed and fashioned her from his rib – so Eve came from Adam. Through the piercing of Jesus side the wife of Christ Jesus, The Church is able to return to Him.

Jesus died before they could break his bones fulfilling the scriptures above. When the curtain was torn in the temple, it was rent from Top to Bottom – from heaven to earth. God removed what had stopped man from entering his presence to allow us access to him. It is important to note it was top to bottom, God came down to man because we could not go up to Him.

If you look in the tabernacle process there are three stages (1) outer court (2) inner court – Holy place and (3) Holy of Holies, before you enter the Holy of Holies there is a curtain only the Priest could go in. This is a mirror of the tabernacle curtain that was rent from top to bottom giving You and Me Access.

There are many revelations of the Cross in the Old Testament, please study Leviticus 14

Some points to consider after the study

The Leper represents a sinner and he was to go before the priest (Jesus). The Priest will go outside the camp (Jesus was crucified outside Jerusalem) drawing all Jew, gentile, adulterer, murderer any other infected person to Him) The Priest shall go out: The Holy Spirit is the one who convicts us to move towards the priest
The articles used

  • 2 living clean birds – Man’s two parts (1) spiritual (2) carnal
  • Cedar wood – a symbol of the cross
  • scarlet yarn – a symbol of the blood
  • Hyssop – symbolising purification – hyssop is a plant used in Jewish rituals for purification.

The articles are 5 the number of Grace

Ephesians 2:4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions – it is by grace you have been saved. 6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,

Romans 5:20 The Priest was to kill one bird over fresh running water this signifies the killing of the flesh and running fresh water is baptism or cleansing by water. John 1:26 John baptised in water but Jesus baptised by Spirit and Fire.
The other bird (the new creation and the new spiritual man 2nd Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

The first part of the cleansing was done 7 times (7 being the number of perfection by God).

  • 2 lambs
  • 1 Ewe
  • 1 Epah
  • 1 flour
  • Olive oil
  • 1 log of oil

The release of the bird onto the open filed signifies works and the second bird sprinkling bird is the unblemished blood of Jesus = Salvation and the second part deals with guilt as there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Significance of several things

The oil could not be introduced until the blood was shed – the Holy Spirit could not enter the situation until the blood was applied

The right ear – Revelations

The right hand – authority

Right foot dominion
